As a national-level Intangible Cultural Heritage, 'Xiangyunsha' (Gambiered Guangdong Silk) is a silk fabric unique to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The 'Master of China – Intangible Cultural Heritage Fashion Show,' created by the team of Professor Jin Hui—one of China's Top 10 Fashion Designers, a China Textile ICH Promotion Ambassador, and Dean of the School of Arts at South China Agricultural University—made a stunning debut on the 29th at the 7th China (Shenzhen) International Fashion Festival. The show aimed to revitalize Xiangyunsha culture and bring this 'unique gem' of global handmade plant-dyed production to the world stage. The theme of this exhibition was 'Yun Qi' (Cloud Awakening). 'Yun' (Cloud) is taken from the name 'Xiangyunsha,' representing the 'sustainability' of China's intangible cultural heritage and its 'fluidity' in exchange and integration; it also signifies that Xiangyunsha from its 'hometown'—Lunjiao, Shunde, Foshan—is merging with the world. 'Qi' (Awakening/Opening) represents Lunjiao Xiangyunsha’s commitment to preserving its authenticity while innovating and expanding into new domains, opening a 'communication and connection' between traditional Lunjiao Xiangyunsha and modern fashion culture. It is reported that Xiangyunsha is the world's only mulberry silk fabric dyed using purely plant-based dyes and river mud. The fabric undergoes more than 30 processes, including soaking in gambier juice, sun-drying, and sealing, before being coated with the iron-rich river mud unique to the Pearl River Delta. Currently, Lunjiao, Foshan, has established various Xiangyunsha standards to enhance the credibility of its products. Various parties, including the Lunjiao Sub-district Publicity, Culture, Sports and Tourism Office, the Lunjiao Xiangyunsha Association, and the Guangdong Lunjiao Silkworm Breeding Farm (Lunjiao Xiangyunsha Display and Trading Center), are dedicated to gradually revitalizing Xiangyunsha culture. They aim to further expand its influence both at home and abroad, allowing it to go beyond national borders and gain global acclaim as a 'purely natural silk fabric' representing the 'Image of China.'
